The apprentice tier on the Pennsylvania register

Pennsylvania records apprentices on its own plumber licence register as PLUMBER APPRENTICE: 508 active apprentice-tier records against 780 journeyman records, a ratio of 0.65 apprentice records per journeyman, register read September 16, 2026. The register's apprentice tier and the federal registered-apprenticeship count in the county table are two different systems: a licence-register apprentice is anyone the state has credentialed to work under supervision, a registered apprentice is enrolled in a DOL-registered program.

Counts are license records, not people: a holder with more than one license appears once per license, and a contractor license is a business, not a worker.

Credential types the No statewide plumbing licence or state plumbing board. HICPA registration is handled by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General; trade licensing is municipal, principally Philadelphia and Allegheny County. issues for this trade: PA Home Improvement Contractor registration (Office of Attorney General), Philadelphia Plumber Apprentice License, Philadelphia Journeyman Plumber License, Philadelphia Master Plumber License, Allegheny County plumbing licensure.
