This policy explains how American Trades Index ("we", "us") handles two different kinds of information: data about our customers, and the public-record licensing data we publish about licensed tradespeople.
When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name and company. We collect usage data (API requests, features used) and, for paid plans, billing details handled by our payment processor (we do not store full card numbers). We use this to provide and secure the Service, to communicate with you, and to bill you. We do not sell customer account data.
The Service publishes information compiled from public government occupational-licensing registers: for example a license number, the licensee's name as published, license type and status, the issuing board, disciplinary or status information the register makes public, and contact information the register publishes. We do not create these facts; they are published by the government registers, which are the systems of record.
We do not collect or publish Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's-license numbers, or photographs.
If you are a licensee and believe a record about you is inaccurate or out of date, email [email protected]. We will review it against the source register and correct or remove it as appropriate. Because the registers are the systems of record, the fastest fix is usually with the issuing board directly; we will reflect their corrected data on our next refresh. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information, which you can exercise at the same address.
We make the licensing data available to our customers through the Service, subject to the permissible-use restriction in our Terms. We share customer account data only with service providers who help us run the Service (hosting, email, payments) under confidentiality obligations, and where required by law. We do not sell customer account data.
Our website uses essential cookies and may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser.
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest, restrict access, and store API keys only as hashes. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
We retain customer account data for as long as your account is active and as needed to comply with our legal obligations. The licensing data reflects the current and historical public record and is retained to provide the movement history that is core to the Service.
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Questions or requests: [email protected].
