Nevada regulates sheet metal work as a contractor licence held by a business, not as an individual worker licence: the Nevada State Contractors Board issues classification C-13, described in NAC 624.300 as using sheet metal, and also lists sheet metal as subclassification C-1e under plumbing and heating. The classification list in NAC 624.140 through 624.585 contains no individual journeyman sheet metal credential.
| Requirements | NAC 624.300 provides that a holder of a classification C-13 licence may fabricate and install sheet metal, including without limitation cornices, flashings, gutters, leaders, downspouts for rainwater, pans, food service equipment, ducts, louvres, patented chimneys, flues and metal roof systems, excluding refrigeration equipment. Sheet metal also appears as C-1e, a subclassification of the C-1 Plumbing and heating classification. The Board requires the qualified individual to have four years of experience within the 15 years before application as a journeyman, supervising employee or contractor in the specific classification requested; training from an accredited college or university program or an equivalent Board accepted program may substitute for up to three of those years. Two examinations are required unless waived: the Business and Law (CMS) exam and a trade exam for the requested classification, with three attempts allowed per exam and a two week wait between failures. A financial statement is required of every applicant regardless of the monetary limit requested, along with a bank verification form, and the Board sets a bond between $1,000 and $500,000. The Board states that the licence belongs to the business and not to the qualifying party, and it may be issued to an individual, partnership, corporation, limited liability company or joint venture. |
| Reciprocity | The Board operates a licensure by endorsement programme for applicants who have held an active licence in a participating state for the past four years with no prior investigation for misconduct, no licence discipline and no pending disciplinary action. The states listed on the Board's endorsement page are Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, and the classifications recognized differ by state, with some equivalencies waiving both the trade examination and the experience requirement and others still requiring the Nevada trade exam. |
| Renewal | The Board states that a contractor's licence is initially issued for a two year period, expiring two years from the last day of the month in which it was issued, and that renewed licences are renewed every two years. Nevada does not issue one year licences. The Board states that there are no education requirements to qualify for a contractor's licence. |
