| Reciprocity | Yes, with three states. The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses publishes signed reciprocal agreements and names the states on its current Journeyman Plumber application (revised 10/3/2024). Oregon (agreement signed 2005): no written examination required; the applicant must hold an active, examination-based journeyman plumber license or certificate in good standing, generally with 4 years and 7,700 hours of experience plus a four-year, 576-hour apprenticeship or the equivalent as determined by the reviewing state, and pays the application state's fees. Montana (agreement signed 1986, effective on or before January 1, 1987, still posted as current): no written examination; the applicant must hold an original license from a signatory state and document experience, and, unusually, must be a resident of the state where the license is held rather than of Idaho at the time of application. Washington: the current application's reciprocity pathway also covers Washington, requiring either 8,000 or 16,000 hours of work experience, active license status, proof of licensure by examination, and, as with Montana, Washington residency at the time of application; no separate bilateral agreement document is published for Washington. The reciprocal application type carries the same $51.90 fee as an initial application.
