Revisions
A dataset that improves changes its own history. Revisions driven by a source or
methodology change are labeled distinctly from real-world movement, and history is back-revised so the
series stays comparable.
This is the practice Case-Shiller and BLS follow. It is what makes a
number a reference rather than a marketing statistic.
