Three years worked as a licensed APPRENTICE, 300 HOURS of theory at an institution approved by the Department of Education and the board, and a pass in the journeyman examination. The apprentice license must be held while the time is served, unregistered time does not count. GAS FITTER. A separate ladder: an apprentice gas fitter must complete not less than 5,100 CLOCK HOURS of practical work experience under the DIRECT SUPERVISION of a licensed master or journeyman gas fitter. A plumber who also wants to work on gas holds both licenses; one does not imply the other. The education and experience standards are set out in 248 CMR 11.00, and 248 CMR 3.00 governs how plumbing and gas fitting work must be conducted in the Commonwealth. |
