RequirementsApprentice: registered 1-year periods, works under direct supervision of a licensed plumber (max 3 apprentices per licensed plumber). Journeyman: age 18+ and 3 years experience under a licensed plumbing contractor (or equivalent verifiable military experience); an associate degree / CareerTech diploma of a plumbing program with 1,000+ classroom hours may substitute for part of the experience; pass a third-party exam. Plumbing Contractor: licensed journeyman experience plus exam.
ReciprocityCIB maintains reciprocity agreements, including an Arkansas plumbing reciprocity agreement (see inter-agency agreements).
RenewalJourneymen and contractors must complete 6 hours of continuing education within the 36 months preceding license expiration. Journeyman renewal fee $75 ($100 with late fee).
