Everyone quotes the shortage. Here is the count Florida actually has, by skill level and per resident, updated every night.
As of October 6, 2026, Florida carries 30,684 licensed HVAC technicians on its state register.
Florida does not issue a separate apprentice license for this trade, so no pipeline ratio is published here. The tier counts below are what the register itself records.
Every HVAC technician license on the Florida register, normalized to one ladder.
| Tier | Licensed | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Journeyman | 14,348 | 47% |
| Master | 2,187 | 7% |
| Contractor / business | 14,149 | 46% |

Not comparable per resident: this register blends individual and contractor licenses, so the raw total is not one kind of thing. A per-resident rate and a state ranking are withheld here; compare by credential tier below instead.
